Obituary of Jon P. Gronquist
Jon P. Gronquist, 70, of 427 S. Main St., Jamestown passed away January 10, 2013 at
UPMC Hamot.
He was born March 17, 1942 in Jamestown, the son of the late Fenton and Evelyn
Lindquist Gronquist and Katherine SanFilippo Gronquist Hoyt, who raised him.
A Jamestown resident all of his life, Jon graduated from Jamestown High School in
1960 and was currently employed at Producto Machine, Ring Division where he worked for 48 years. He also was a member at South Hills Country Club Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and the Viking Lodge. He was a former member of First Lutheran Church.
Jon lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved the game of golf and played throughout his life. He started as a caddy at age 11 and had several holes-in-one. A highlight for him was caddying for Arnold Palmer at Moonbrook Country Club during an exhibition match in 1959. He also played in many Italian-American charity golf tournaments and enjoyed playing softball, bowling and basketball in earlier years.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diana Moline Gronquist whom he married on
May 4, 1963 in First Lutheran Church; daughter, Sheila (Allen) Myers, and son, Patrick "PJ" (Victoria) Gronquist, both of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Adrienne (Parker) Mitchell, of Nevada, Christopher Myers, of Alexandria, VA, and Tristan Myers, of Jamestown; one great-
granddaughter, Penelope Mitchell of Nevada; a sister, Kathie Bellucci, of Gainesville, FL and step father James Hoyt of Falconer.
Besides his parents, Jon was preceded in death by a sister Blenda Pettibone and two
brothers, Wesley and Roger Gronquist.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Chapel of First Lutheran Church.
The Reverend Daniel Nagle, pastor at First Lutheran, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset
Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 6-8 pm on Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
