Obituary of Francis G. Webster
Francis G. Webster, 90, of 165 Aldren Avenue, formerly of 1377 Newland Avenue, died Friday January 11, 2013, in WCA Hospital.
He was born November 7, 1922 in Conesus, NY a son of the late George and Frances Griffin Webster.
He was a 1941 graduate of Livonia Central School.
He enlisted in the Navy and served as a radioman aboard an LST throughout the South and Central Pacific, honorably discharged in 1946.
He graduated from Veteran's Vocational School, Troy, NY, as an Electrical Technician under the GI education bill.
He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and attended advanced electronic at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. He served in various locations as an engineering technician with electronic aids to air navigation, radio communication, radar microwave relay and teletype. After service in the FAA he worked in sales positions within Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Following retirement he was employed part time as custodian of First Congregational United Church of Christ, of which he was a member.
His family is grateful for the compassion and skill of Dr. John LaMancuso and the 3B staff of WCA Hospital.
Surviving are four children Thomas (Ann) Webster of Evansville, IN, Susan (Robert "Yogi") Kent of Jamestown, David (Mary) Webster of Oklahoma City, OK and Beth (David) Johnson of Jamestown; 7 grandchildren Rebekah Vallejo of Florida, Courtnei (Larry) Harvey of Evansville, IN, Amy (David) Lee of Raleigh, NC, Erik Kent of Snow Camp, NC, Lisa (Shea) Bainter and Diana (Carl) Greene, both of Oklahoma City, OK and Britta Johnson and Danielle Johnson, both of Jamestown and 6 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Betty Drain, whom he married July 2, 1947 and who died December 28, 2007, three brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel Nagle will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
