Obituary of Lucien J. Conti

Lucien J. Conti, Sr., 86, of 21 Hern Ave., Lakewood, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie due to complications from injuries sustained in a recent automobile accident. He was the husband of the late Christine Trippi Conti, whom he married April 30, 1949 and who died April 1, 2000. Lucien was born January 1, 1927 in Hyeres, France, the son of the late Joseph and Marie Oliviere Conti, and served in the French Air Force, stationed in Indochina. He came to the U.S. in 1948 and worked as a contractor in the Jamestown area for many years, building some 120 homes. Lucien later owned and operated Prestige Line Products in Jamestown, a maker of custom laminate products. An avid golfer, he also belonged to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Surviving are four daughters, Marie (Charles) Lefere of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lucienne (William) Mix of North East, PA, Suzanne Dameron of Hartsville, SC, and Annette (William) Johnstone of Webster, NY, and a son, Lucien (Lynn) Conti, Jr. of Fayetteville, GA. Lucien is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Brady Lefere of Tampa, FL, Jeremy (Christina) Mix of Dayton, OH, Hayley Mix of Atlanta, GA, Shelby Mix of Honolulu, HI, Dr. Jesse Mix, US Air Force stationed at Travis AFB, CA, Midshipman Zachary Mix at the Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD, Quincy Mix of North East, PA, Spencer and Paige Peterson, both of Los Angeles, CA, Sgt. Aaron (Valerie) Johnstone, US Army stationed at Fort Drum, NY, Cadet Simon Johnstone, US Army ROTC at the University of Miami, Alison Johnstone of Webster, NY, Danielle Conti of Athens, GA, Madeleine and Elise Conti of Fayetteville, and Lucien Conti III, also of Fayetteville; two great-granddaughters, Avery and Evelyn Mix of Dayton, OH; his dear friend, Marilyn; and several cousins in the United States and France. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. noon Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
