Obituary of Evelyn E. Sweeney

Evelyn E. Sweeney, 87, of 4537 Kortwright Road, Busti, died Thursday January 24, 2013 in her home. She was born October 12, 1925 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Robert and Florence Robbins Stufflebeam. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Southwestern Central School District as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of Mission Covenant Church, Sugar Grove, Panama Senior Citizens, Celoron Senior Citizens, Retired Ladies Group and AMVETS Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and making crafts. She was especially close to her dog Rowdy. Surviving are her husband of 66 years William A. Sweeney, whom she married June 22, 1946; 3 daughters Judy (Gary) Fry of Sugar Grove, Rebecca (Jeff) Wilbur of Yukon, OK and Marjorie RoyBusti; a daughter-in-law Mary Sweeney of Lakewood; seven grandchildren Todd and Steven Sweeney, Bridget Strong, Amy O'Donnell, Craig Fry, Sherri Smith and Kristi Costilla; 16 great grandchildren and a brother Kenneth (Alta) Stufflebeam of Kennedy. She was preceded in death by a son William A. Sweeney October 17, 2012; a daughter Kathleen Marie Sweeney December 20, 2012; a brother Wayne Stufflebeam and a son-in-law Scott Roy. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Mission Covenant Church, Sugar Grove. Rev. Brian Haight will officiate. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Niobe. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Monday in the church.
