Obituary of Robert Whitmore
Robert E. "Swampy" Whitmore, 57, of 8 Bowen Street, died unexpectedly Monday February 4, 2012, in his home.
A lifelong Jamestown resident, he was born July 5, 1955, a son of the late James and Lucille VanEvery Whitmore.
He was employed by SKF in Falconer as a machine operator.
Swampy was a very social person and was a member of Cassadaga American Legion, Falconer Moose, Eagles Lodge, Ellington, Carroll and Falconer Rod and Gun Clubs and was a life member of Vietnam Veterans Association.
He enjoyed to taking his 63 Nova SS out and going to car shows during the summer with his wife and family.
Surviving are his wife the former Roberta Troutman; 2 sons Bradley Whitmore of Sarasota, FL and Brandon (Tabitha) Whitmore of Jamestown; a granddaughter Sierra Whitmore of Arizona; a brother William Whitmore of Kennedy; 3 sisters Cindy Whitmore of California, Chris Whitmore of Kansas and Sharon Whitmore of Frewsburg.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Brian Whitmore March 4, 2004; 2 sisters Norma Dalrymple and Rosemarie Whitmore and a brother Jim Whitmore.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
