Obituary of Kenneth J. Shafer

Kenneth J. Shafer Jr., 56, of Dunkirk passed away Wednesday February 13, 2013 at Brooks Hospital. He was born December 8, 1956 in Jamestown the son of the late Marian Adams Shafer and Kenneth J. Shafer Sr. Kenny attended Southwestern Central Schools and was employed at Fieldbrook Foods, previously Dunkirk Ice Cream. He loved car racing, both as a Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan and as a driver in the spectator class at Stateline and Erie Speedway. Kenny was an Elvis Presley fan; he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his children. Surviving are a daughter, Michelle of Jamestown; three sons, Preston, Robert, and Michael all of Celoron; two sisters, Sandra of Erie; Deborah of Frewsburg; two brothers, John Sr. of Celoron; David of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews; and his friend, James Higbey of Dunkirk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie; a grandson, Garth; and a brother, William. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
