Obituary of Ralph L. Carlson

Ralph L. Carlson, 85, of 3343 Busti-Stillwater Road, died Wednesday March 13, 2013, in his home. A native of Jamestown, he was born February 26, 1928, a son of the late Linder and Tekla Swanson Carlson. Following graduation from Jamestown High School in 1945, he served in the US Army from 1946-47. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for over 20 years. He was a member of John W. Tiffany Post #53 VFW, Point Chautauqua Golf Club and South Hills Country Club. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He was extremely proud of his accomplishment of 4 holes-in-one throughout his career. Surviving are 6 children Diane (Jacob) Roth of Falconer, Denise (Bud) Ericson of Jamestown, Darryl Russell of Jamestown, Julie (Charles) Beach of Falconer, Tom (Kristin) Carlson of Jamestown and Janis Lowery of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Jeannine Chindgren who died in 2002, a son Steven Russell and a sister Norma Grover. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
