Obituary of Sherwood E. Marsh

Sherwood Earl Marsh, 79, of 1023 Weeks Road, Panama, died Tuesday March 19, 2013, in his home following a lengthy illness. He was born January 7, 1934, in Jamestown, a son of Ellen Davis and Elmer J. Marsh. He attended Frewsburg High School and then lived and worked in both California and Western New York. During his career he was a self employed logger and farmer and was a truck driver for Hoyt Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and his dogs Manchester and Buffy and his cat Bubba. Surviving are his wife of 52 years Alice Brightman Marsh, whom he married October 22, 1960; three children Rex E. (Jody) Marsh of Panama, Michael W. (Sandy) Marsh of Panama and Starlene A. (Thomas Pillsbury) Reed of Boiling Springs, PA; seven grandchildren Tyler, Brianna, Zachary and Andrea Marsh all of Panama, Jacob Marsh of Buffalo, NY, Kayla (Matt) Sheaffer of Mechanicsburg, PA and Franchesca Reed of Bear Lake, PA; a sister Bonnie (Ted) Waldo of Selah, WA; several nieces and nephews and one special niece Laura Seekins. He was preceded in death by his mother Ellen Davis Marsh Jackson in 1967, his father Elmer Marsh in 1968, his stepfather Robert Jackson in 1967 and his brother Rex G. Marsh in 1954. No funeral service will be observed. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
