Obituary of Jeanette F. Phillips

Jeanette F. Phillips, 96, formerly of Lakewood, NY passed away at 12:25 p.m. Thursday (March 28, 2013) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident she was born April 15, 1916 in Lakewood, NY a daughter of the late Joseph and Hulda Eliasson Freed. In earlier years she was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, the Lakewood Women's Club, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Moon Brook Country Club. Through the years she enjoyed playing the organ, painting, ice skating, playing tennis and was an avid golfer. Surviving are a sister Beatrice Niles of Albany, NY and her nieces and nephews Jody Dickinson of Youngstown, NY, Nancy Niles of Clifton Park, NY, John Niles of Ft. Myers, FL, Gregory Freed of Naples, FL, Warren Choate of Williamsport, PA as well as several great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Oliver H. Phillips, DDS, two brothers Harry Freed, Sr. Joseph Freed, Jr and two sisters Helen Granger and Melva Choate. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Deacon Cathy Smith, chaplain of Hospice Chautauqua County will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY or to a charity of one's choice.
