Obituary of Leo E. Griffin

Leo E. Griffin, 69, of Jamestown, died at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. He was born November 28, 1943 in Westfield, NY, a son of the late Marion and Viola Strand Griffin and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. A graduate of SUNY Brockport, he had worked as an investigator for the Department of Social Services both locally and in New Jersey. Leo was a member of the VFW and as an EMT had previously volunteered at WCA Hospital. A marathon runner in earlier years, he had competed in many marathons including the New York City Marathon. Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Griffin; a daughter, Desiree E. (Nathaniel) Johnson of York, PA and a son, David J. Griffin of Woodbridge, VA; three grandchildren, Aiden, Reese and Payton; a brother, Marion "Skip" (Peggy) Griffin of Frewsburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Donald Griffin, and a sister, Janet Allison. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Soldier's Circle of Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Juan C. Perez, pastor of Iglesia Ahican Assembly of God, will officiate.
