Obituary of Daniel G. Kays

Daniel G. "Dan" Kays, 47, of 217 Fulton St. Jamestown, died unexpectedly Monday April 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. He was born April 4, 1966 in Jamestown the son of Bonnie Simmons Kays Pugh and the late Gerald W. Kays. Dan was happiest when he was outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, camping, or communing with nature, he loved being outside. Dan had a talent for drawing and painting and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He loved his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews who were his "babies". Dan would do anything for anyone. Surviving are his mom and step father, Bonnie and Kenneth Pugh of Youngsville, PA; three sisters, Lisa Kays of Jamestown; Paula (Jefferson) Miller of Youngsville, PA; Laura Jamieson of Warren, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Sheldon Simmons. The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
