Obituary of Margaret Canon
Margaret "Peg" Canon, 88, formerly of Hollywood, FL, went on to be with the Lord surrounded by her family, Saturday April 27, 2013 at Emeritus.
She was born October 4, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Braden.
Peg had been employed by the US Government in Washington DC with the Treasury Department. Locally she worked at the former AVM Corp. She was a member of the Ira Lou Spring Post American Legion Auxiliary, and she sang with the bands of Larry Nowell and Dorothy Brooks in area clubs.
Surviving are seven children, Darla Close and William Close, both of Jamestown; Kim Close of Minneapolis, MN; Lynda (Andy) Smith of Port St. John, FL; Carol Levin of Hollywood, FL; Karen (Dave) Kaltenbaugh of Sandy Lake, PA; and JoAnne (Tom) Hardy of Albany, GA; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Price, Bill Close, Kristy Madison, Sarah Creech, Chris Olson, Malisa Bohmer, Jacob Smith, Dan Kaltenbaugh, Dulcie Anderson, Diane Lee, Jessica Lugo, Natalie Shannon, Brian Close, and David Close; 17 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James R. Canon who died May 19, 2011; a son, Keith Close; two sisters, Rita Wilson and Dorothy Widman; and an infant brother, Charles Braden.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
