Obituary of Kurt S. Elander

Kurt S. Elander, 67, of 56 Elliott Ave., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - Hamot in Erie. He was born December 16, 1945 in Jamestown, a son of the late C. Stanley and Potentia (Carlson) Elander. Kurt is survived by his wife, Sandra (Cady) Elander, whom he married in 1973; two daughters, Robin Elander of Santa Barbara, CA and Jill (Michael) Napierala of Fredonia, NY; and a brother, Gary (Kathy) Elander, a nephew, Michael (Amelia) Elander, and a great-nephew, Ashton Elander, all of Virginia. A graduate of the University of Buffalo, he was a veteran of the US Army. Prior to starting his own private practice of 22 years in Jamestown, Kurt worked for a number of years as a physical therapist at WCA Hospital, as well as the former Jamestown General Hospital. Kurt very much enjoyed working with his patients and his staff. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Henry Mosher Post #638 American Legion in Falconer. Kurt enjoyed classic cars and going to automobile shows. He also enjoyed Chautauqua Lake and going out on the boat with his family. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel K. Nagle will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, for two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
