Obituary of Richard A. Brown, Sr.
Richard A. Brown, Sr. 81, of 560 Fairmount Ave. W.E., formerly of Maple Springs, NY, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday (May 14, 2013) in his residence at Tanglewood Manor.
A lifelong area resident he was born August 4, 1931 in Randolph, NY a son of the late Horatio and Louise Burkhart Brown.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from April 20, 1951 to April 17, 1953 during the Korean War.
Before his retirement he was employed for many years as an assembler for Hopes Windows.
He was a former communicant of St Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Maple Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the Fire Police of Chautauqua County.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather who loved fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his four children; Richard A. Brown, Jr. of Hartfield, NY, Cynthia L. (Brian) Carnes of Bemus Point, NY, David N. (Pam) Brown of Sinclairville, NY, Linda Brown of Perrysburg, NY, eight grandchildren; April Brown, Ryan (Vickie) Carnes, Matt (Erin) Carnes, Stacey (Javon) Sharp, Alainna Brown, Alexandrea Brown, Keith Hoch, Kenneth Lockhart, ten great grandchildren; Michael Carnes, Kaylyn Carnes, Landon Carnes, Jillian Sharp, Romello Sharp, Abrielle Sharp, Xzavier Brown, Trevor Brown, Connor Brown, Alexander Brown and a sister Marian Schneller of FL.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Joan M. Heil whom he married June 30, 1956 and who died April 4, 2002, a brother John Brown and a sister Gladys Silsby.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. John L. Kuhlmann will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
