Obituary of Elsie V. Carlson

Elsie V. Carlson, 89, formerly of 3161 Moon Road, died Monday (May 13, 2013) in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born October 1, 1923 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Willis S. and Marie C. Venman Rogerson. For many years, Elsie worked at the former Fluvanna Super Duper. She was a member of the Fluvanna Community Church; Fluvanna Fire Department Auxiliary; and she volunteered at the Fluvanna Library. Elsie enjoyed gardening, going for walks, and was an avid reader. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Arthur E. Carlson whom she married April 10, 1943; a daughter, Diane (Bill) Boyles of Sugar Grove, PA; a son, James (Karen) Carlson of Jamestown; a daughter in law, Jill Ernst Carlson of FL; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger V. Carlson who died March 30, 2009; four brothers, Carol E. Rogerson in 2010; Alvin Rogerson in 2008; Myron Rogerson in 1979; Jonas Rogerson in 1969; and two sister in laws, Mary Anderson Rogerson in 2007; and Ruth Rogerson in 2012. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday May 17, 2013 in the Lind Funeral Home where a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
