Obituary of Joann H. Williams

Joann H. Williams, 72, of Panama, NY, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Gary K. Williams. An area resident most of her life, Joann was born April 26, 1941 in Albemarle, NC. She had been employed for many years as a childcare worker by the Gustavus Adolphus Home in Jamestown. Joann was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she had sung in the choir. She enjoyed travel, singing, and loved animals. Surviving are three daughters: Wendy Pilling and Holly (Miguel Figueroa) Podoris, both of Jamestown, and Tammy Williams of Panama, NY; five grandchildren: Brittany Allen of Alabama, Brandon Terkeurst of Jamestown, Chad Podoris of Afghanistan, Rebekah Podoris of Alabama and Noah Williams-Pohlman of Panama; two great-grandchildren, Catie and Jack Allen of Alabama; and a goddaughter, Lyn Spencer of Jamestown. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. James Read, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, will officiate.
