Obituary of Jay J. Bostaph

Jay J. Bostaph, 50, of 27 Palmer Street, died Tuesday June 11, 2013, in UPMC Hamot, Erie. He was born April 18, 1963, in Jamestown, a son of Gerald and Shirley Rasmussen Bostaph. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Community College. He had been employed by Rainbow Cab as a driver and was a former member of the Jamestown Moose Lodge. An avid reader, he enjoyed working on the computer. He loved trains and traveling especially his gallivanting day trips. Surviving beside his parents of Lakewood are his wife Vikki Knowlton Bostaph, whom he married April 16, 1992; a son Joshua Bostaph of Lakewood; a step son Eugene Whorton of Jamestown; four sisters Cathy Belin of Jamestown, Jody Gauggel of Jamestown, Shelley Pearson of West Ellicott and Kristy Kirkpatrick of Puyallup, WA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Kevin Bostaph. The funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-5 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In addition, friends may greet the family following the service from 6-7:30 p.m. in the church hall of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood.
