Obituary of Edward J. Jensen

Edward J. Jensen, Jr, 75, of 4909 Rt. 474, Ashville, died Friday June 14, 2013, in his home. He was born June 5, 1938, in Jamestown, a son of the late Edward and Mary Miller Jensen, Sr. He was a veteran of the US Nay serving from 1956-57. Prior to his retirement he worked many years for Carpenter's Union Local 66. He was part of many large construction projects, most recently as foremen of Fisher Scientific. He was a member of Ashville United Methodist Church, Llama Club, Bass Masters and Jamestown Moose Lodge. In earlier years he was a Boy Scout leader. Surviving are his wife the former Elaine Thomas, whom he married December 8, 1990; 4 sons Doug Jensen of Ashville, Brian (Kim) Jensen of Garden Grove, CA, Edward (Rachel) Jensen III of Ashville and Michael Jensen of Arlington Heights, IL; 3 step children Terry (Lisa) Barrett of Youngsville, PA, June Matherly of Falconer and Jerry (Barb) Klein of Ashville; 15 grandchildren Dustin, Tara, Shawn and Nick Barrett, Carl and Heather Brown, Jacob Matherly, Amber, Jessie and Noel Klein, Brian Jensen, Jr, Mindy and Heidi Jensen, Creig Jensen and Edward Jensen IV; 11 great grandchildren ; 2 brothers Gary (Sharon) Jensen and Craig (Amy) Jensen, both of Ashville and 2 sisters Sally Hagg of Jamestown and Gracie (Gary) Gisslin of Lakewood. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1989 and his father in 2008. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Deacon Cathy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
