Obituary of John Joseph Cabala

John Joseph Cabala, 71 of 3066 Girts Road Jamestown, died Saturday June 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA. He was born April 13, 1942 in Portage, PA the son of the late Joseph and Mary Salamon Cabala. John was a 1960 graduate of Portage Area High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a PBX Installer/Repairman at Windstream for 41 years. He was a communicant of St James Catholic Church and was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid sports fan, following the Pittsburgh teams of the Steelers, Penguins, and the Pirates. John enjoyed fishing on the Great Lakes, especially Lake Erie. He enjoyed working on electronics and computers. He also loved polka music and played bass guitar. Surviving are his wife, Madeleine Boreck Cabala; a son, Michael Cabala of Jamestown; a daughter, Valerie (James) Gembarosky of Amherst, NY; a brother, Frank Cabala of Summerhill, PA; and two sisters, Louise Bryson and Rosemary Cabala both of Altoona, PA. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
