Obituary of Clara E. Carney

Clara E. Carney, 88, formerly of 18 Van Buren St., died at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of Victor Carney, whom she married July 1, 1945 and who died April 16, 1981. A lifelong area resident, Clara was born November 11, 1924 in Jamestown, one of seven children of the late Joseph and Josephine Miller Bush. She retired from WCA Hospital in 1988. Surviving are a son, John Carney of Jamestown; two grandchildren: John M. Carney and Vickie C. Godfrey, both of Austin, TX; three step-grandchildren: Kenneth "Rick", Kevin and Keith Adams, all of Jamestown; one great-granddaughter and three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Beatrice Bush, Dora Stone and Grace Clark; three brothers: William, Clarence and Merle Bush; and a daughter-in-law, Linda C. Carney, who died May 29, 2013. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pastor Phil Shay will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
