Obituary of Sandra Whitcomb

Sandra M. Elder Carlson Whitcomb, 59, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 in her home. She was s Jamestown resident most of her life. She was born November 5, 1953, in Sherman, NY, a daughter of William and Marilyn Elder. Sandra attended Sherman and Chautauqua Schools. She had been employed at the Post Journal, Frewsburg Rest Home, Manor Oak SNF, Fenton Park Nursing Home as a certified nurses aide, and Better Baked Foods. Sandra enjoyed living life, laughing, drawing, collecting angels, country music, dancing, family and friends, and most of all her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is survived by four sons, Stephen Carlson, Brian Carlson, Ricky Carlson (Nichole Philbrick), Judd Carlson (Jessica Johnson); two daughters, Nicole Carlson of Jamestown, and Tammy Peace of North Carolina; a brother Donald Elder (LuAnn Elder); a sister, Barb Mele (Tony Mele); 17 grandchildren, Brittany Hinson, Matthew Carlson, Kollon Knisley, Kyle Knisley, Katlyn Knisley, Justin Carlson, Jaymin Carlson, Jaylynn Carlson, Victoria Carlson, Kailey Carlson, Caleb Carlson, Ricky Carlson, Aspen Carlson, Nathan Carlson, Kristen Peace, Joshua Peace, and Stephanie Aisle; three nieces, Mary Kohl, Sherry Mele, and Fawn Cogdon; three nephews, Mike Elder, Jeremy Elder, and Tony Mele. She was preceded in death by an ex-husband, Lee E. Carlson (father of her children); her husband, Henry L. Whitcomb; a brother, Ronald Elder; a sister Cheryl Krehan; and a grandson, Skyler Peace. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Huber will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home.
