Obituary of Irene Eastman

Irene Eastman, beloved mother and MorMor, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, formerly of 40 Sampson St. in Jamestown, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in WCA Hospital. She was 83. She was the widow of Willard Eastman, whom she married August 9, 1952 and who died August 6, 2012. Irene was born November 14, 1929 in Karlskoga, Sweden, the daughter of the late Claus and Anna Erickson Olson, and came to the United States in 1950. She had been employed as an obstetric technician by WCA Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 1993. Her family and friends will remember how much she enjoyed taking care of the babies and her amazing ability to recall the details of her many patients. Irene will also be remembered as an awesome baker and for her talent for knitting. Surviving are two daughters: Anette (Stephen) Skidmore of Jamestown and Ann Christine Lockwood of McCall, Idaho; four grandchildren: Megerle (Michael) Morris and Kaitlin Skidmore, both of Henderson, Nev., Erica (Jeremy) Patterson of Anahiem, Calif.,,and Matthew (Lisa) Lockwood of Olympia, Wash.; a brother, Sven Olson of Karlskoga, Sweden; two sisters-in-law, Maj-Lis (Arne) Hagglund and Barbara (Ron) Tedquist, both of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Lockwood. A private family service will be held at a later date. Visitation will not be observed.
