Obituary of Theodore W. Anderson

Theodore W. Anderson, 96, formerly of 154 Wilton Avenue and 132 Aldren Avenue, died Friday July 26, 2013, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side. A native of Binghamton, NY, he was born July 14, 1917, the son of Gust and Sadie Michael Anderson. He was a 1936 graduate of Jamestown High School and WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving from 1942-46 He was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier from 1948-76. Following retirement he worked 6 years for Chase Manhattan Bank as a courier. An active member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church for many years, he served as a trustee, usher and member of the former C. Norton Warner Sunday School class. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and 65 year member of Ingjald Lodge Independent Order of Vikings and National Association of Letter Carriers. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, the former Ruth Melquist, whom he married April 17, 1942; a son David (Cris) Anderson of Columbia City, IN; 3 grandchildren Gregory (Moe) Anderson, Christopher (Erin) Hagstrom and Matthew (Laura) Hagstrom and four great grandchildren Ava, Bodee, June and Cooper Hagstrom. He was preceded in death by a sister Ethel Cutting. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev Rick LaDue of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt chaplain of Lutheran will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. prior to service Monday in the funeral home.
