Obituary of Blake A. Merritt

Blake A. Merritt, 55, of Steamburg, NY, died unexpectedly Saturday August 3, 2013 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center Erie, PA from a sudden illness. He was born November 27, 1957 in Corry, PA the son of the late Carlyle "Carl" and Nancy Miles Merritt. Blake was a US Army Veteran. He worked as a General Contractor, and he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Surviving are four brothers, Steven Merritt, Zeck Merritt, Zach Merritt, Jason Bowers; three sisters, Sonya Lea Merritt, Lola Merritt, Kelley Bowers; a son Jason; several step children; and two uncles, Harold (Liz) Miles, and Eugene (June) Merritt. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Lillie Porter Merritt. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home where full Military Honors will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday by members of the Jamestown VVA. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society or the Disabled American Veterans.
