Obituary of Ruth A. Johnson

Ruth A. Johnson, 80, formerly of 145 Chandler St. Jamestown, NY and Bemus Point, NY, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Saturday (August 17, 2013) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. An area resident for most of her life she was born October 28, 1932 in Sugar Grove, PA a daughter of the late Aleson and Mary Strangeway Phillips. Growing up in Sugar Grove, Pa she was a 1950 graduate of Sugar Grove High School. In earlier years she was a waitress for several area restaurants including The Fountain Bowl, Ramsey's Restaurant and Davidson Restaurant. Surviving are two sons; Jeffrey A. (Beverly) Johnson of Jamestown, Dennis S. (Marisa) Johnson of Mulberry, Fl, three grandchildren; Charlotte (Charlie Stroth) Anderson, Aleena (Jason) Cuoco both of Jamestown, Kaila (Tony) Kitchens of FL and five great grandchildren; Ryan Anderson, Dylan Anderson and Gavin Cuoco, Summer Kitchens, Lexy Kitchens. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Robert Kraig Johnson, three sisters Ina Laird, Betty Lake, Jane Devereaux and two brothers Lincoln Phillips and Donald Phillips. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Chaplain of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center will officiate. Burial will be in the Turnpike Cemetery, Sugar Grove, PA. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
