Obituary of Herbert C. Hoover

Herbert C. Hoover, has gone to be with his Father in Heaven, this day in September 4, 2013. He was born in Corry, PA July 11, 1929 to the late Ernest W. and Mildred (Young) Hoover. Herb was born the year President Herbert Hoover went into office and was named after the President. Herb had a lot of fun with the name, as did a lot of other people, of course. Herb was in the United States Navy from 1946 until 1948. His working life consisted of being a Jeweler in Warren, PA at Hoover's Tick Tock Shop from 1965 until 1982, and as a salesman before that. Herb married Joyce A. (Abramson) Hoover of Jamestown, September 4, 1998 and were inseparable until his death. They traveled thru most of the United States in their various R.V.'s. Their handle was Makingmemories 84 and they had many memories, and stories to share. Herb enjoyed writing poems and stories of his memories known as "Go ahead walk a mile in my shoes". Interesting stories from his and Joyce's travels, and his life. Herb was a private kind of guy who loved his wife Joyce dearly, and all of her children, and their children. In addition to his wife Joyce, Herb is survived by his son Douglas (Valerie) Hoover of Hillsville, PA and his children, Herbs grandchildren, Mark, Sara, Kristen, Lisa, and Katherine; five step children, Cindy Thompson (Doug) Leburg of Erie, PA; Sharon Thompson (Joseph) Bolton of Coarsegold, CA; Douglas (Joy) Thompson of Tracey, CA; Donald (Cindy) Thompson of Dennison, MN; Mary Beth Thompson (Pat) Moss of Ellington, NY; many step grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise H. (Hoover) Powell of Findley, OH; Shirley M. (Hoover) Ritchy of Stoneboro, PA; two brothers, Marshall W. Hoover of Kansas City, MO; and Ernest W. Hoover of Texarkana, MO. Besides his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his eldest brother from Smethport, PA, Clifford W. Hoover. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Frewsburg Fire Department. A final expression from Herb might be, "WHEW ! I made it" meaning in spite of the problems at hand, "The Lord is my Shepherd".
