Obituary of Calvin Wheaton

Calvin Wheaton, 74, of the Town of Ellery, passed away peacefully Sunday September 29, 2013 in his home. He was born April 11, 1939 in Lackawana, NY the son of the late Noble and Mildred DeNee Wheaton. He was a paratrooper in the US Army Airborne from 1958 to 1960, and prior to retirement worked for many years at SKF Bearings. Calvin enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be missed by his dog Rosie. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, June Childs Wheaton; a son, Master Sgt. Ryan Wheaton USAF and his wife Ann-Marie of Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Renee McMurtrey and her husband Sean of Fountain, CO; two grandsons, Tyler Wheaton and Cody Hillerby; one granddaughter, Caylie Hillerby; one grandchild on the way; his God children, Charlie, Loren, Chad, and Kimmy; two brothers, Robert Wheaton of Gowanda, NY; Charles (Carol) Wheaton of East Otto, NY; two sisters, Marcella Capron of Little Valley, NY; Jeannette (Willis) Allen of Gowanda; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rich and Jerry. A special thank you to Calvin's brother in law Irv for everything he has done. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Girt, Margaret Eicher, Mary Counter; and a brother John "Jack" Wheaton. There will be no funeral service or visitation observed. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County 20 W Fairmount Ave Lakewood, NY 14750; or to the United Service Organization (USO); or to a charity of one's choice.
