Dear Sam, Jr - and all of the Price family,
I am very saddened to learn of your Mother's recent death. While I did not know Petey personally, I knew of her wonderful personality, and the profound influence she had on so many lives; young and old. She will always be with you through precious memories, and may each of you be sustained by them.
"Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
, I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there.
I did not die." (American Indian Poem)
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult journey.

Mr and Mrs Price, Petey and Sam, were always so welcoming to me and the rest of Norman's Jamestown friends during our junior high, high school, and college years. Their home was like a second home, and Petey was an encourager and a fan of our endeavors. She touched my heart and made a positive difference in my life. I am so thankful and blessed to have her as part of those years.

My blessings and heartfelt sympathies go put to the entire Price clan. I've known many of you through the years at Chautauqua, and Petey was always the center of your life. It's so hard to lose a spouse, sister, parent, grandparent or friend. However, we all know she lived a long, happy and successful life. Her accomplishments are seen in each one of your own lives, and you are fortunate to have had her in your life. Love each other; lean in and cherish the family bond she and Sam created.

We visited with Petey on the red brick walk last week, just days before her death.
She was carrying her cane, but not using it for support.
We laughed about Equus at the theater, when Norm Price, Rich Buffo, Lyle Himebaugh and David Zarou showed up as ushers, having heard about the frontal nudity. She was truly a stalwart, and we alrady miss her.

If only each of us could leave such happy memories for family and friends. Petey always greeted me at the Chautauqua PO or anywhere with her great smile and something personal to comment on to me. I knew she cared. Her joy in living lifted all of us.
Love, comfort and peace to you, Sam and to your special family.

While introducing my 1 yr old granddaughter Stella to Petey & 2 of her sons, Stella simply beamed at the sons. I remarked to Petey that I didn’t understand why Stella smiled so engagingly at men all the time. Petey simply remarked, “You really don’t understand that?” I’ll very much seeing her & enjoying her great sense of humor in Chautauqua.
With my sympathy,

My sincere condolences to Sam and all of Petey's BIG family....she welcomed everyone with a smile and, yes, a hug! I always knew my son and his friends were in good hands when visiting her in Chautauqua. She was the epitome of graciousness and warmth and lots of fun too. I have memories, and, oh yes, pictures of the Moms and Sons who would go to the Green Door for a beer or two. Bye Petey......with a hug.

My dear Mom, Dee Heinzerling, always thought Petey Price was "a great gal." To those of our parents generation and to those who knew my mom, this was high praise. When you saw Petey Price you just knew something nice was about to happen. It is an honor to know they were good friends. The '60's until the mid '80's at Chautauqua, were the best years.
Our family treasures the memories of these wonderful ladies and all that they did to make CHQ a special place for their families and fellow Chautauquans. The energy and enthusiasm for Chautauqua and people in general was what made such a difference.
The last time I spoke to Petey, she said how she loved my mom and how much she missed her. Well, now they are enjoying a heavenly place, with God and with those they have loved and missed. A place that never changes.

Petey and the Price family are my first memories as a child from 102 Hotchkiss Street. There was a constant gang of children coming and going from the Price home, and Petey greeted all of us with her infectious smile and indescribable warmth. The first time I ever dialed the phone to call home from their house, Petey was right there (and so was Theo, my very first friend in life as a very small child). As a child I spent the night many times at the Price's Hotchkiss Street home, and it always felt as soothing and comforting as being in my own bed.
Theo, as mentioned, you were my first memory of a"best friend". We must have been together from ages 1 yr. up until kindergarten, then fortunately again in High School.... That's a bond that is forever in my memory and my heart. I had the gift of spending a little time with Petey knitting at the Red Brick farms Yarn shop in 2008. Her radiance and warmth were felt as strong as ever, and the kindness in her smile always put me at ease. She was the second person to feel like a "Mom" in my life. It was a true gift to have been with her that day.
Love to all of you from all of the Niebank family.
Love, Sarah

Petey was launch more than just my Aunt. She was a second mother...always there when I needed an extra hug or a safe haven or a place to hide out. My favorite memories are of holiday meals on Hotchkiss St. And being in charge of making the gravy. Petey was not just a "gift" to her immediate family, but to all whose lives she touched...like mine. I love you, Aunt Petey! Please give Mamie and Dad hugs from me.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Price family as we say goodbye to a wonderful person, mother and friend. Petey was a second mother to many of us that spent much of our teens at their houses in Jamestown and Chautauqua. I will always cherish her warm and caring nature and how she always made Norm's friends feel right at home at whatever hour we decided to drop by. We were certainly blessed to have passed through her life. God Bless Petey.

My second mom and second home since I was about 5, I suppose. As a friend of Norm's since we met when we 3 or 4 in nursery school (along with Lyle H and Greg L), as well as at swim lessons at the Boy's Club, we all frequented Hotchkiss Ave and Whittier Ave more times than any of us could count. Just knock, walk in, give her a hug, sit down and chat about whatever. A thousand visits, a thousand pancakes at breakfast, and a thousand memories -- I will miss her very much but know she doesn't want that.
Always smiling, passionate, funny, silly, yes a great hugger, rapier wit and keen intellect, she continues to sparkle and always will. Not sure what she would think of me lighting a candle for her, but doing it anyway. - John
