Obituary of Lillian F. Ward
Lillian F. "Aunt Lil" Ward, 102, formerly of Emeritus Lakewood, and Forest Ave Jamestown, died Sunday October 13, 2013 in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 15, 1911 in Byrnedale, PA the daughter of Olof Gustaf Johansson and Anna Christine Anderson Fosburg.
Prior to retirement in 1966, Lillian worked as an Occupational Therapist at Rockland Hospital in New York City. She was a member of the Salvation Army, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary, Thule Lodge, and the Jamestown Vikings Diana Lodge #114.
Known to everyone as "Aunt Lil', she was devoted to her family and friends, enjoyed visiting with them, and reminiscing of her Swedish heritage. She also enjoyed sharing quotes and sayings with everyone, was an avid reader, and spent countless hours completing puzzle books.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irving "Chick" Ward whom she married October 15, 1933 and who died August 8, 1975; five sisters, Esther (Oscar) Carlson, Ellen (John) Carlson, Freda (Ivar) Matson, Ruth (Harold) Young, and Ethel (Floyd) Lott; and three brothers, Alvin and two infant brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Lutheran Home Chaplain will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
