Saddened to hear of Elsie's passing...my condolences to all of her family. I had the honor and pleasure of working with Elsie at the Unemployment Office in Jamestown. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone. During and after her work ended at the UI Office many of us would meet every month for lunch and catch up on each other's news. I always enjoyed sitting next to Elsie to talk especially about Military days. I have been away from Jamestown for almost 13 years now and as I think about Elsie it will always be with fondness for a special lady. I too lost my mom this year, she was 92...know your hearts are saddened but full of wonderful memories.

I will always remember Aunt Elsie as a kind and loving aunt. I will miss the visits in the summer and taking her to get ice cream!! I will remember all the good times I had at the house on Cole Avenue when I was growing up. I must have driven her crazy trying to get Pat to climb trees. When ever I saw her she would remind me that "we are family".
I know she will be missed...
Love, Sonia
P.S. I promised her I would get all the Clauson family photos together one of these day, so I will get to it in the next year or so.

I was fortunate to grow up in a neighborhood populated by great mothers. Mrs. Colander was one of those. On those days when we had to play inside, she was always warm and welcoming and seemed truly glad to see us. She helped make great memories for all of us neighborhood kids - a wonderful legacy. Debbie and I offer our deepest sympathy to Pat, Dave, Sue, and Dan as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they mourn her and remember how special she was.

Dear Cousins,
So sorry for your loss and for the loss of my beloved Aunt. I remember going to the home on Cole Ave at Christmas and being greeted by that beautiful smile and a warm hug. All the Swedish goodies and the awful Swedish stuff too! We had such fun at Aunt Elsie's and Uncle Tiny's. We also had a lot of fun at the cottage on the lake. I cut Aunt Elsie's hair for a time and what a pleasure to be with her. She always paid me way to much, so generous. She will always hold a place in my heart. I'm so happy that Elsie and Ruthie are together again. Love Always

So sorry for the family's loss. I know she will be missed. I remember the "other" Elsie Colander as a wonderful and kind woman. I can't recall how many times my father, Tiny's cousin, mentioned Tiny and Elsie and the word "kind" in the same sentence.

God bless each of you at this difficult time. Your mother will be missed. She was indeed a kind, supportive, loving advocate for each of you. She did well for herself with her travels, varied work experiences, delayed education degree, interesting husband and loving home. She lived well, didn't she--a sterling role model.

A wonderful, warm, loving woman. She always had a big smile that matched the love and kindness of her heart, that greated everyone and made you feel welcomed and part of the "family". She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
