Obituary of Joanne E. Scolton

Joanne E. Scolton, 64, of 6015 Button Valley Rd. Panama, NY passed away at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born November 28, 1948 in Jamestown, NY a daughterof the late John L. and Edna Mae Davenport Harriger. Joanne was a 1966 graduate of Panama Central School and attended Jamestown Community College and the State University of New York at Geneseo. Before her retirement she was employed as a para- professional for the Jamestown Public School System, working at the C.C. Ring Elementary School for 25 years. In earlier years she had worked for the Ashville Head Start Program and also for the Chautauqua County Highway Department. She was currently a member of the Panama United Methodist Church and previously was a member of the Ashville United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband Bruce S. Scolton whom she married February 19, 1971, a daughter Krista L. (Stephen) Odell of Panama, a son Eric R. (Jennifer) Scolton of Charlotte, NC, four grandchildren Natalie M. Odell and Lillian E. Odell both of Panama, Danielle L. Scolton and Jackson M. Scolton both of Charlotte, three sisters Shirley M. (John) Hayward of Ashville, NY, Ruth A. (Joseph) Adams of Columbia, SC, Margaret Harriger of Woodbridge, VA, a brother Donald L. (Arvina) Harriger, her nieces and nephews Jeffrey T. (Theresa) Adams, Jason T. (Christina) Adams, Julie K. Garvey, Alan J. Hayward, Douglas S. (Eloisa) Hayward, Janine M. (Matthew) Johns, Michael J. (Rochelle) Harriger, Jennifer A. (Gavin) Jones and 13 great nieces and great nephews. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Panama United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steven Taylor, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Panama Union Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Panama United Methodist Church, 12 East Main St. Panama, NY 14767.
