Obituary of Dorothy C. Ducat
Dorothy Cecelia Roberts Ducat, 88, passed away Tuesday November 12, 2013 in WCA Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born October 26, 1925 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island the daughter of the late Edward and Irene Bills Wahl Roberts.
Dorothy was a graduate of Otto High School in Eldred, PA and was employed as a Bookkeeper for Blackstone Corp., Monitor Furniture, Union National, and Burns Case Goods, before going into business with her husband at Ducat Real Estate in Lakewood.
She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point with her husband as well as Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Jamestown. Dorothy loved anything to do with nature; gardening, bird watching, astronomy; the ocean, especially Cape Cod; beaches, where she loved collecting shells, sand dollars, and starfish. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a special aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy will always be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her kindness and compassion for others and her great smile and optimism.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Gerard "Jerry" Ducat whom she married December 23, 1944 in Jamestown; two sons, Ronald (Tami) Ducat of Lakewood; Richard (Bernice) Ducat of Belleview, FL; a daughter, Susan (Ronald) Getska of Jamestown and Viera, FL; six grandchildren, Ann Nelson of Jamestown; Mike Ducat of Lakewood; Jennifer Ducat of Jamestown; Gregory Getska of Viera, FL; Lori Weishar of Poulsbo, WA; Tim Ducat of Belleview, FL; five great grandchildren; Kurt, Emily, and Madelyn Nelson all of Jamestown; Audrey Ducat of Lakewood; Kevin Weishar of Poulsbo, WA; and two brothers, Leonard Roberts of Cypress, TX; and Dr. Howard Roberts of Cornelius, NC.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Roberts Gauvin and Ethel Wahl McGrath; and four brothers, Thomas Roberts, Milton Roberts, Edward Roberts Jr., and Norman Wahl.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WCA Office of Development, 207 Foote Ave PO Box 840, Jamestown, NY 14702-9975; or to a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Woloszyn for his special care and compassion, and her "angels" at WCA; 3rd and 5th floor nurses and staff.
