Obituary of Marion J. Linn
Marion J. Linn, 89, formerly of 41 Delavan Ave., died at 5:59 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Hultquist Place.
She was born in Jamestown on October 10, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Jennie Wallin Jacobson, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1942. She had also attended the Lutheran Bible Institute.
In earlier years, Marion was employed by MRC and Pepsi Cola. She later worked for the Jamestown Public Schools for 18 years as an aide in the High School library, retiring in 1986.
Marion was an involved member of First Lutheran Church, having sung in the choir for over 20 years, served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Social Ministry Committee, Christian Education Committee and Altar Society, and was a member and circle leader of the Women of ELCA at First Lutheran Church as well as member of the Couples & Singles Club. She also belonged to the American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel B. Linn (Carol) of Jamestown and John "Jack" D. Linn (Linda Hughes) of Webster, NY; a daughter, Karen Linn Femia (Nicholas) of Washington, DC; five grandchildren: Patricia Linn, Jessica Dorler (Andy) and Aaron Linn, all of Jamestown, and Elizabeth Femia and Vincent Femia, both of Washington, DC; and six great-grandchildren: Gavin, Jaxson and Kyler Dorler, and Cloey, Ariana and Gabriel Linn.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Frank P. Linn whom she married September 1, 1946 and who died March 29, 2001; and a brother, John Ronald Jacobson.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24th in Memorial Chapel of First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel K. Nagle will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
