Obituary of Shirley B. Erickson

Shirley B. Erickson, 78, of 86 W. Livingston Ave., Celoron, passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013. She was born September 15, 1935 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Leonard and Beatrice Johnson Burch. Shirley graduated from Falconer High School in 1953 and attended Fredonia State College. In earlier years, she had been employed by Jamestown Sterling and by the Jamestown City Court. For 24 years she worked for Jamestown High School as school treasurer, retiring in 1998. Shirley belonged to the Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion Auxiliary, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary and was a former member and past president of the Celoron Fire Department Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (David) Jones of Warren, Pa. and a son, Douglas (Carol) Erickson of Pfafftown, NC; five grandchildren: John (Nicole Cruz) Rivera of Jamestown, Alan Rivera of Celoron, Amanda (David) Harvey of Gainesville, FL, Christopher (Susan) Erickson of Lenoir, NC and Eric (Grace) Jones of Shanghai, China; and four great-grandchildren: Makayla Rivera, Cameron Jones, Makenzie Cruz and Jordan Dubuque. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Erickson, Jr. whom she married October 20, 1956 and who died June 4, 1997, as well as a brother, Richard L. Burch, who died in 2003. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and for hour prior to the service in the funeral home Monday. Memorials may be made to Susan B.
