Obituary of Phyllis Allene Nelson

Phyllis Allene Nelson, 81, of Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing, formerly of Akeley, Pa., was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at WCA Hospital. She was born September 22, 1932, a daughter of the late Carl A. and Myrtle Anderson Nelson, and was a 1951 graduate of Warren High School. She then graduated in 1957 from the former Jamestown General Hospital School of Practical Nursing. As an LPN, Phyllis had been employed by Jamestown General Hospital, Buffalo General Hospital and in California. She was confirmed at the former Zion Mission Covenant Church in 1948 and was a member of the Akeley United Methodist Church where she sang in choir and played piano. Phyllis also belonged to the Frewsburg-Maple Grove Cemetery Auxiliary. Surviving are a sister, Gladys Meier and two nephews, Ronald and Dennis Meier, all of Torrance, California. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice M. Nelson who died in 1947, and a brother-in-law, Donald D. Meier who died in 1981. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in the Hale Cemetery in Akeley, Pa.
