Obituary of Elverna J. Ruggles

Elverna J. "Ellie" Ruggles, 90, of 715 Falconer St., formerly of 9 Crane St., Jamestown, NY, passed at 5:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 22, 1923 in Sinclairville, NY, a daughter of the late Lucas J. and Lucia M. Mellor Curtis. Ellie had lived in several places over the years and had worked as a nurse's aide for the Moorestown Nursing Home in Moorestown, NJ and also for the Sena Kean Nursing Home in Smethport, PA. In previous years she was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Jamestown and it's 50 plus group. She was also a member of the Cassadaga Over the Hill Gang and the American Association of Retired Persons. Surviving are a daughter, Carol L. Moyer of Jamestown,, a son, George E. Ruggles of Gifford, PA, three grandchildren, Cheryl (Timothy) Linnan of Smethport, Cathy Lee Morgan of Smethport, PA, Benjamin G. Ruggles of Dubois, PA, and a sister Anne M. Lepley of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. John P. "Jack" Ruggles, Jr. whom she married December 28, 1946 and who died August 27, 2011, two brothers, Lucia E. Curtis, James M. Curtis and three sisters, Shirley Jean Curtis, Vivian W. Schmidt, Betty M. Suber. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Fluvanna Community Church. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the church.
