Obituary of Evelyn S. Parsons

Evelyn S. Parsons, 83, of 132 Aldren Ave., formerly of 51 Roland Road, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at WCA Hospital. She was the widow of C. Robert "Bob" Parsons whom she married June 26, 1954 and who died August 11, 2009. Evelyn was born January 6, 1930 in Alda, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Floyd and Blanche Balmat Steele. She had been employed as a bookkeeper by the former Bailey's Floral Supply and later Anderson's Floral Supply, both in Jamestown. Evelyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. Surviving are three children: Debra (Abe Pagan) Steele of Murrieta, CA, Jan (Tim) Mara of Lakewood, NY and Greg (Polly) Parsons of Springfield, IL; seven grandchildren: Arika Steel of Missoula, MT, Andrew Coy of Okinawa, Japan, Matthew Choy of Washington, DC, Jack Parsons and Jenny Parsons, both of Springfield, IL, Dr. Joshua (Mandi) Sawlaw of Peoria, IL and Betsy Sawlaw of Monticello, IL; two great-grandchildren, Forrest Sawlaw and Ava Wisehart; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Aiken and three brothers, Robert, Floyd and Don Steele. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt and the Rev. Robert J. Kasting will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home Friday.
