Obituary of Alice I. Bernhardt

Alice I. Bernhardt, 83, formerly of 22 Kelsey Place, Jamestown, NY, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2014, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident she was born June 7, 1930 in the Town of Poland, a daughter of the late Vernon G. and Florence A. Stone Blood. She was a graduate of Frewsburg High School and attended the Elam Bible Institute. In previous years she had been a member of the Jamestown Lioness Club and enjoyed spending time working in her garden, reading and sewing. Surviving are a daughter Laurie (Edward) Adatepe of Pittsburgh, PA, a son Brian D. (Carrie Wolfgang) Bernhardt of Jamestown, two grandchildren, Justin Adatepe of Pittsburgh, Alicia Adatepe of New York City and three sisters Florence A. Minton of Jamestown, Connie Johnson of Kiantone, NY, Betty J. Reynolds of Frewsburg, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Bernhardt whom she married January 30, 1959 and who died November 7, 1993, three brothers, Donald Blood, Vernon Blood, Jr., Harold Blood and four sisters, Bertha Rasmussen, Louise Cheney, Eunice Valone and Caroline Blood. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick LaDue, pastor of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
