Obituary of Barbara L. Gustafson

Barbara L. Van Guilder Gustafson, 70, of 3181 Burton Road, died unexpectedly Tuesday December 31, 2013 in WCA Hospital. She was born January 10, 1943, in Westmoreland, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Hicks Johnstone. She was a self employed housekeeper for many years. Barb loved gardening, socializing with friends and held a special place in her heart for her pets. Surviving are two children: Shelley Swan of Busti and Charles (Treva) VanGuilder of Jamestown; five grandchildren Travis and Tyler Scott, Andrew and Chad VanGuilder and Tim Stappenbeck; two great grandchildren; a step son, Thomas (Cheryl) Gustafson of Mayville; a step-grandson, Cody Gustafson, and five brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Johnstone of Jamestown, Jack Nichols and Randy Milks of Busti and Eddie Nichols of Sheridan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles "Punk" VanGuilder, on December 27, 1974; her second husband, Thomas Gustafson, on August 14, 2012; an infant son, Kenneth VanGuilder; a brother, Danny "Dan-o" Milks, and a sister, Naomi "Nicky" Groves. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Lee O'Brien will officiate. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
