Obituary of Robert S. Songer

Robert S. Songer, 84, of 4001 Dry Brook Road, Falconer, formerly of Warren and Salamanca, died Tuesday January 14, 2014, in his home. He was born October 22, 1929, in Warren, PA, a son of the late Robert and Marie White Songer. He was a graduate of Warren High School. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Ethan Allen Furniture in the Jamestown office serving as regional manager and board member. He earlier had worked at Singer Furniture and Fancher Furniture, Salamanca. He was a former member of the Salamanca Lions Club. He enjoyed singing and playing piano and accordion. Surviving are his wife the former Mary Kuzminski, whom he married September 3, 1949; five children Robert Songer of Manchester, MI, Katherine (Bill) Hager of Ishpeming, MI, Valerie (David) Thor of Busti, Mark (Cindy) Songer of Wexford, PA and Wesley (Debbie) Songer of Elkton, VA; an exchange student daughter Nancy (Donnie) Eastman of New Port Richie, FL; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and a sister Betty Carlson of Conneaut, OH. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Ben Graessle; daughter-in-law Sandie Songer and a brother Ronald Songer. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
