Obituary of Barbara A. Cheney

Barbara A. Cheney, 79, of Navarre, Fla., formerly of Knoxville, Tenn., died on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Fla. She was the widow of A. Morelle Cheney III, whom she married July 13, 1956 and who died July 12, 2009. Barbara was born October 6, 1934 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Opal Venum Simon, and was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School in Sinclairville. Barbara worked as a dental assistant prior to being married and was a devoted wife and homemaker. When her children were older she worked in interior design. She loved to cook and shared her wonderful breads, sticky buns and meals with family. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing. Barbara was an avid collector of Hallmark Christmas ornaments and different types of snow globes. Surviving are two sons: A. Morelle (Vikki) Cheney IV of Houston, TX and Jason M. (Darlene) Cheney of Navarre, FL; and five grandchildren: Meredith Cheney of Florence, AL, Hawley Cheney of Bozeman, MT, Joshua M. Cheney of Huntsville, AL, Mason J. Cheney of Pensacola, FL and Madison N. Cheney of Navarre, FL. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Monday, January 20th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Kibbe will officiate. Burial will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
