Obituary of Sharon L. Murray

Sharon L. Murray, 71, of 4590 Rt. 474, Ashville, NY, passed away at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in the Hospice House, Warren, PA. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 14, 1942 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Harry and Virginia B. Wright Johnson. Sharon was a 1960 graduate of Frewsburg High School and a 1965 graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia, with a degree in teaching. Before her retirement she was employed by the Chase Manhattan Bank, which is now M & T Bank, working in several branches in the Jamestown area for 17 years. In earlier years she had worked for the Sears Roebuck and Company. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person who cared deeply for her family and friends. She also loved to spend time crocheting and having lunch and dinner with her friends. Surviving are two sons, Gary T. (Elana) Murray, Jr. of Apex, NC, Fred J. Murray of Norfolk, VA, a daughter, Virginia (Chad) Hall of Newbern, NC, five grandchildren, Catherine Murray, Thomas Murray both of Apex, NC, Gary Dustin Hall, II, Emma E. Hall, Grace Hall all of Newbern, NC. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gary T. Murray whom she married November 14, 1964 and who died January 18, 2001 and her brother Sherwood "Pete" Johnson. The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Nagle, pastor of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
