Obituary of Edna L. Slagle

Edna L. Slagle, 86, of 21 Price Ave. W.E., passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014, in the Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY. An area resident for most of her life she was born July 16, 1927 in Sherman, NY a daughter of the late Hulbert and Christell Nielsen Greiner. In previous years Edna had worked in the snack shop of the former Murphy's 5 & 10 Store and also was a waitress at the Jamestown Elks Lodge. She was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary where she was a Past Chaplain. Surviving are a half brother Lawrence Sorensen of Lakewood, a grandson, Shawn D. McDowell of Plantsville, CT, two nieces, Connie Slagle of Rochester, NY, Krista Damon of Harrisburg, PA, a nephew, Kristopher Greiner of Chicago, IL, her son in law, Delavin McDowell of Lakewood, a sister in law Dorothy Fleming of Warren, PA, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as her beloved dog "Toby". Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Slagle whom she married July 13, 1964 and who died October 26, 1995, a step-daughter, Suzan L. McDowell who died June 13, 2010, a son, Wayne R. Farley who died September 12, 1962, three brothers, Kerry Greiner who died December 14, 1987, LeRoy Greiner who died February 24, 1986 and Cyrus Greiner and a step-granddaughter Lori Lynn Johnson. A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701. .
