Obituary of Lois E. Johnson
Lois E. Johnson, 92, formerly of 79 Chicago Ave. W.E. and St. Vincent's Adult Home, Dunkirk, NY passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, in Walton Hills, OH.
A Jamestown area resident for most of her life she was born April 14, 1921 in Ludlow, PA a daughter of the late Carl Godfrey and Elsa Anderson Peterson.
She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School.
Lois was a longtime active member of the Christ First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Marvin Community House and the Thule Lodge. She also volunteered for many organizations including the Salvation Army, W.C.A. Hospital and the Cancer Society.
In earlier years, Lois had worked for the former Nelson's Department Store, Teleprompter Cable Television and for Care Givers.
Surviving is a son J. Philip (Laura) Anderson of Cleveland, OH, two daughters Lynn M. Culbertson of Escondido, CA, Carol (Jack) Piper of Pittsburgh, PA, four grandchildren, Jon Culbertson, Julie Culbertson, J. Matthew Piper, Joshua Piper and five great grandchildren, Zsuzsi and Zeth Culbertson, Danya and Zoey Walsh and Aunika Piper.
She will be remembered as a very loving and caring person who saw the good qualities in everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband J. Wallace "Wally" Anderson who died January 12, 1979, her second husband Harland G. "Hank" Johnson who died July 26, 1990 and three sisters Harriet Levato, Betty LaBuer and Velma Richardson.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, in Christ Chapel of Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Douglas M. Knopp, retired pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in Darrah Hall of Christ First United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in Christ Chapel.
