Obituary of Martha L Anderson

Martha L. Anderson, 91, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, passed away at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born August 4, 1922 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Swanson Anderson. Martha was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School. Before her retirement in 1987, she was employed for 35 years as an operator for the former Jamestown Telephone Company which later became Alltel. She was a lifelong member of the First Covenant Church where she sang in the choir, sang in the Living Christmas Tree, taught Sunday school and was active with many women's circles of the church. Surviving are her brother in law Henry M. Cheney of Kiantone, 13 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Betty Lindbloom, Elsa Gruelle, Mildred Dunn, Genevieve Anderson, Mabel Larson, Lois Beebe, Ruby Cheney and by two brothers Evald and Harold Anderson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, in the First Covenant Church. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received following the service in fellowship hall during a light luncheon.
