Obituary of Stanley K. Burford

Stanley K. Burford, 79, of 210 Yolande Ave WE, passed away Sunday February 2, 2014 in Select Specialty Hospital Erie, PA. He was born October 11, 1934 in New Bethlehem, PA the son of the late Jacob M. and Bessie M. Hetrick Burford. Stan was a 1952 graduate of New Bethlehem High School and served six years in the Naval Reserve. Prior to retirement, he worked at Marlin Rockwell Corp for 43 years. Stan attended First Covenant Church; was a former member of Maplehurst Country Club; past president of Stillwater Country Club; and past president of the MRC Chorus. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, playing softball and baseball, managing the Falconer MRC softball team for six years. Stan was known as "Bopa" to his grandchildren and loved spending time with them and attending their various activities. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Barbara J. McLean; five daughters, Debra DuBois; Debbie (Mark) Morton; Dawn (Todd) Hnatyszyn; Rae Jones; Amy (Mike) Desiderio; 10 grandchildren, Rachael (Steven) Gould; Richard (Amanda) Morton; Kelley Morton; Ashley (Justin) Clark; Zachary (Ashley) Hnatyszyn; Brooke Hnatyszyn; Jacob Hnatyszyn; Matthew Desiderio; Michael Desiderio; Christine Desiderio; four great grandchildren, Emma, Alivia, Gavin, and Bryce; and a brother, Robert Burford. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Buzzard, Frances Williams, and Mary Radomski; and three brothers, Melvin, James, and Wallace Burford. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Kilburn, Associate Pastor at Zion Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
