Obituary of Ernest O. Skinner
Ernest O. Skinner, 81, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully Saturday February 1, 2014 in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Corry, PA the son of the late Basil and Anna Thomas Skinner.
He was a US Army Veteran, and had worked at McFadden Ford. Earlier, Ernest worked at Home Pride, Endeavor Lumber, and as a Route Salesman for the former Firch Baking Co. He was a life member of the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, playing poker and cribbage, crocheting, painting, puzzles, model building, watching and playing football, and he loved animals.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ellen Reynolds Skinner; four children, Ernest "Gene" Skinner; Robert (Martha) Skinner; Richard (Natalia) Skinner; Elizabeth (Dan) Hanson; 15 grandchildren, Jon, April, Jeanne, Melissa, Lance, Robert Jr., Justin, Trisha, Anastasia, Aaron, Annya, Greg, Robert, Christopher, and Thomas; 12 great grandchildren; four sisters, Hazel (Dick) Carmen; Betty Skinner; Esther Jaggi; Marjorie (Charles) Kopta; and two brothers, Clarence Skinner; and LaVerne (Nancy) Skinner.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Aaron Bjork will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Maple Grove Cemetery Frewsburg.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.
