Obituary of Margaret L. Benson

Margaret L. "Peggy" Benson, 78, of 101 Cook Ave. Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014, in her home. A lifelong area resident she was born May 17, 1935 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Williams Burnett. She was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years had been a dental assistant for Dr. White, DDS. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved taking trips with her cousin Louise to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and to the Seneca Allegany Casino. She was also a lover of dogs and cats. Surviving are a daughter, Debra B. (John) Williams of Jamestown, three sons, Daniel A. (Jane Nickerson) Benson, Jr., Craig R. (Michelle Johnson) Benson both of Jamestown, Michael L. (Lorie) Benson of Clayton, NC, 12 grandchildren, Renee Williams, Krista (Kelly) Vincent, John Williams, Jr., Daniel T. Benson, Stephanie M. Benson, Andrew Benson, Stacey (Brandon) Benson, Christopher Benson, Michael Benson, Zachary Benson, Lindsey Benson, Allison Benson, five great grandchildren, four sisters, Janice Indelicato, Patty Triscari, Linda (Steve) Peterson all of Jamestown, Lois (Frank) Erickson of Sherman and a brother Robert (Sylvia) Burnett of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel A. Benson, Sr. whom she married January 29, 1955 and who died May 29, 2008 and two sisters, Marilyn Burnett and Beverly Geraci. In keeping with her wishes, a private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of the Lutheran Retirement Home will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
