Obituary of Richard E. Samuelson

Richard E. Samuelson, 88, of Tanglewood Manor, 560 Fairmount Ave. W.E. formerly of 303 West Fifth St. Jamestown, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born July 12, 1925 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Harold A. and Helen M. Evans Samuelson. Before his retirement in 1987, he was a bus driver for the former Jamestown Area Regional Transit System for 37 years. Following his retirement he drove bus on a part time basis until 1989. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving during World War II and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. In earlier years he had attended the First Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, David A. Samuelson, Richard E. Samuelson, Jr. both of Jamestown, four grandchildren, Hannah Samuelson, Jacob Samuelson, Aaron Samuelson and Annika Samuelson all of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Carol Timbers. In keeping with Richard's wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation observed. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Scholarship Fund or to a charity of one's choice.
