Obituary of Charlette J. Johnson
Charlette J. Johnson, 93, formerly of Tanglewood Manor and 85 East Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident, she was born October 7, 1920 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Charles David and Adele Gustafson Jaderstrom.
She was a 1938 graduate of the former Celoron High School and a graduate of Jamestown Business College. She also took several courses in English and writing at Jamestown Community College.
Before her retirement years she was employed in the catalog department at Sears Roebuck and Company in the Chautauqua Mall for 22 years.
Charlette was a longtime active member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years and was also a Sunday school teacher. She was also a 50 year member of the Women's Club of Lakewood, a member of the Lakewood Golden Agers, the Fortnightly and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was an accomplished writer and wrote several articles for the Tempo Magazine and Guidepost Magazine. During retirement years she and her late husband enjoyed traveling extensively in the United States and other countries.
Surviving are four sons; Richard E. Johnson of Lakewood, NY, Ronald M. (Linda) Johnson of Austin, TX, William C. (Cindy) Johnson of Diamond Point, NY, Lee R. (Pat) Johnson of Jamestown, NY, two daughters; Gay Maria Norgren of Ashville, NY, Dawn C. (Bill) Sherer of Boulder Junction, WI, nine grandchildren; Michelle (Tim) Wissert of Elgin, IL, Eric (Korry) Johnson of Lawrenceburg, IN, Lisa (Michael) Anderson of Oshkosh, WI, Christopher (Jamie Lyn) Johnson of Okeana, OH, Stephanie Johnson of Twinsburg, OH, Andrew Norgren of Buffalo, NY, James Goodell of Tempe, AZ, Zachary Johnson of Belmont, NC, Faith Johnson of Diamond Point, NY, several great grandchildren including Jordyn Wissert, William Schallick, Michael Anderson, Samuel Anderson, Gaven Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Tatum Johnson, Ella Anderson and Elliott Johnson as well as three nephews; Reginald (Doris) Jaderstrom of Tracy, CA, Noel Jaderstrom, Theodore Jaderstrom and a niece Gloria (Keith) Amaral all of Hawaii.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband E. Robert Johnson whom she married December 16, 1939 and who died April 3, 1994, three brothers; Ralph, Waldemer and Harold Jaderstrom, a sister Ivy Jaderstrom and her son in law Ron Norgren who died December 28, 2009.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in the Lind Funeral Home.
